Alex is a fictional example, not a Tropicana Home client or a real citizenship case. Alex buys an ordinary apartment in Mahmutlar, sets up an LTD company in Alanya, applies for a work permit to work in the business and keeps the company’s tax and business records in order.
What the five-year route means
Under the general naturalisation route, an applicant must have lived in Türkiye continuously for the five years immediately before applying and meet the other legal conditions. Buying a home, starting a company and working with a permit can help show an intention to settle in Türkiye. They do not replace the residence period, and they do not guarantee approval. The competent authorities assess each application. Read the official citizenship conditions published by the Directorate General of Civil Registration and Citizenship Affairs and Turkish Citizenship Law No. 5901.
How Alex’s plan could unfold
- Buy a home: an ordinary purchase gives Alex a place to live, but does not by itself grant citizenship.
- Set up and operate an LTD: the company needs to be a real business with the required accounting, tax and other records.
- Obtain a work permit: company ownership alone does not authorize Alex to work. The Ministry separately assesses the work-permit application and the company-partner criteria.
- Keep residence continuous: Alex tracks permit dates and time spent outside Türkiye. The five-year period is assessed against his own official records.
- Review before applying: after the qualifying period, Alex checks every other condition and submits an application. Citizenship follows only if the application is approved.
The permit rules for an owner working in their own LTD are explained in our guide to work permits and the five-year residence period. The difference between an ordinary home purchase and the investment route is covered in our article on buying a home, forming an LTD and paying tax.
