A car can make everyday life around Alanya easier, especially when you live outside the town centre. Before planning regular trips, check two separate things: whether you may drive with your licence and whether the vehicle may be used in Türkiye under its registration and customs status.
Keep the driver documents together
Carry your valid driving licence and the vehicle registration. Keep your passport or residence identification available, and make sure the vehicle has insurance that is valid in Türkiye. For a rental car, keep the rental agreement and follow the rental company's driver rules. An international driving permit may be relevant for some licences; check the rules for the country that issued yours.
Türkiye's Directorate General of Population and Citizenship Affairs says that foreign-issued licences may be used by foreign nationals for up to six months in Türkiye. The exchange process and document list depend on the issuing country and the person's circumstances, so confirm the current instructions with NVİ before that period ends. Start with the official driving-licence FAQ.
Prepare for Alanya roads
Save the addresses of your home, workplace and regular services offline. Check parking arrangements at your building and destination, keep your phone charged, and allow extra time for unfamiliar junctions or busy summer traffic. Do not use a phone while driving, and make sure every passenger uses the seat belt.
Before bringing a foreign-plated car, read the separate guide on vehicle eligibility and permitted use. Licence validity does not by itself make a car eligible to enter or remain in Türkiye.
